About Us

Our
Story

The BWINH Collective began as a vision of community, resilience, and belonging. While we formally organized in November 2022, our journey started much earlier with the creation of the Black Womxn in NH Social Club in August 2020.

At a time when many felt lost and hopeless—amidst a global pandemic and heightened awareness of police brutality toward Black people—the Black Womxn in NH Social Club was founded as a space of refuge. It was created for Black people experiencing racism, sexism, and gender discrimination, offering a place of acceptance and belonging in a world that often denied us both.

What began as an online space to share experiences and recommendations quickly grew into a thriving community of nearly 700 members. It became clear that we needed something more—a physical space of our own, where we could gather, grow, and build a future rooted in solidarity, culture, and self-determination.

In November 2022, the BWINH Social Club Committee was formed to bring this dream to life. As we refined our mission and vision, we realized that we all shared the same aspiration: to build a self-sustaining Black community, much like the ones our elders and ancestors cultivated before us.

By November 2023, we took the next step and officially incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit under the name BWINH Inc. With this transition, we embraced a broader identity as the BWINH Collective—a unified movement dedicated to Black liberation, community care, and economic sustainability.

From a virtual support network to a growing force for systemic change, the BWINH Collective is a testament to the power of Black community and the legacy of those who came before us. We are here to reclaim, rebuild, and reimagine a future where Black people in New Hampshire and beyond can truly thrive.
