Fiscal Sponsorship

We’re offering fiscal sponsorship to our community to strengthen ancestral solidarity and cooperation. By supporting projects aligned with our mission, we aim to uplift grassroots efforts that might struggle to get started. This initiative is about providing a platform for impactful work and reinforcing our commitment to our community’s growth and empowerment.

Our own experience seeking fiscal sponsorship was full of obstacles and discouragement. This journey underscored the need for a more supportive framework. By offering fiscal sponsorship, we hope to alleviate these challenges for others, creating an environment where community projects can thrive and advance our shared vision of mutual support and solidarity.

Eligibility Criteria for Fiscal Sponsorship by BWINH Inc.

To qualify for fiscal sponsorship with BWINH Inc., projects must meet the following criteria:

1. Alignment with Mission

  • The project should align with BWINH Inc.’s mission to alleviate the harsh effects of racism, sexism, and gender discrimination, specifically within the Black community in New Hampshire and surrounding states.

2. Community Impact

  • The project should demonstrate a clear benefit to the Black community, especially in ways that build sustainability, longevity, and collective care.

3. Black Leadership

  • Projects must be led or co-led by Black individuals, with priority given to projects led by Black womxn, queer Black folks, and others historically excluded from leadership opportunities.

4. Nonprofit Nature

  • Projects must be non-commercial and rooted in addressing social, educational, cultural, spiritual, or environmental needs of the community.

5. Readiness and Support

  • Projects do not need to have everything fully developed but should have a clear idea or vision, including goals and objectives. If teams are still building a timeline or budget, they must be open to receiving mentoring and support from our community of Black people at different stages and levels of organizing.

6. Legal and Ethical Standards

  • Projects must commit to operating legally, ethically, and in ways that uphold community trust.

7. Funding and Resources

  • Projects should have a plan or openness to explore ways to secure funding. Those without funding in place will still be considered, as BWINH Inc. can assist with identifying grants, building strategies, and sharing access to our 501(c)(3) status so projects can raise money through tax-deductible donations.

8. Accountability and Transparency

  • Projects must agree to reasonable reporting practices, including sharing updates and financial information so funds are used responsibly and transparently.

9. Inclusivity and Accessibility

  • Projects must commit to inclusivity and accessibility, making space for diverse participation and ensuring the benefits reach across the Black community.

10. Sustainability

  • Projects should show a commitment to sustainability, even if long-term plans are still developing. Openness to support in this area is welcomed.

11. Risk Awareness

  • Projects should identify potential risks (such as funding gaps, capacity challenges, or safety concerns) and either be in the process of mitigating them or be open to working with BWINH and our community to address them.

12. Collaboration

  • Collaboration is encouraged. Projects that seek to build connections with other Black-led initiatives or community groups are strongly welcomed.
